Bloomfield, New YorkRochester & the Finger Lakes
Custom homes and millwork.
Timber frames, cabinetry and furniture for houses across Rochester and the Finger Lakes. Now small homes on your own land.
Forty years of building & woodworking
Every beam is a decision. Jim makes them one at a time, in a shop in Bloomfield.
Real rooms from Jim's building and woodworking portfolio in Rochester and the Finger Lakes.
What Jim builds
Four kinds of work, one standard.
-
01
Custom Homes
Prairie, Craftsman, lake house, farmhouse. Jim runs the job and swings the hammer.
-
02
Timber Frame & Millwork
Post-and-beam interiors, staircases, wall panels, art-glass frames, historic windows.
-
03
Small Homes & ADUs
A smaller home, made with care. Family space or independent living, subject to local approval.
-
04
Renovation & Cabinetry
Kitchens, built-ins, libraries and furniture. Cherry, walnut, Sapele, ash, fir, maple.
The walk-through
Step through seven rooms.

All the work
Real rooms. Real houses.
Real project photography from Jim's portfolio. The separate Grove tour is an illustrative design concept.
Small homes & ADUs
The same craft. A smaller footprint.
The same care, in a smaller house. Start with your property, local approvals and a conversation with Jim.
- Accessory dwelling unit / guest house
- In-law or caregiver suite
- Rental use where locally permitted
- Same timber, same cabinetry, smaller footprint
Every property is different. Size, scope and construction method are determined together.
Ask about a small homeHow it goes
Listen. Draw. Build. Finish.
-
I
Listen
A walk through the house or the land. Jim asks more than he talks.
-
II
Draw
Drawings and full-size mock-ups. You approve the real thing, not a sketch.
-
III
Build
Cut and fitted in the Bloomfield shop, then brought to your house.
-
IV
Finish
Oil, wax or lacquer, chosen for the wood. The last coat goes on in place.
About Jim
Timber, cherry, and a long patience.
Jim Liebel builds houses and the millwork inside them from a shop in Bloomfield, New York, half an hour from Rochester: timber frames, Greene & Greene wall panels, Sapele staircases, cherry libraries, screen doors, historic windows.
Forty years of building and woodworking have shaped an eye for the details: a cabinet that fits, a timber joint that belongs, a room that feels settled.
Now the same shop is turning to small homes and accessory dwellings, built as carefully as furniture.
